Service shortage at server fi24.hostaan.fi

Service shortage occured at server fi24.hostaan.fi on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at 7:40 pm. This fault situation was related to the network error, due to which the downtime occured on web sites on the server. The DNS services, emails, databases or other server services was not affected.

Unfortunatelly, due to a simultanious single point of failure in our automated monitoring system, our staff was not properly alerted, but the error was detected and corrected only during the next routine check at 10:40 pm. Thus the duration and decetction delay of this situation became exceptionally long.

Edit at 2024-09-26 at 9:15 am: Unfortunatelly, the situation reoccured during night at 02:30 am and the re-investigation started 05:30 am and issue was refixed by 06:00 am. The cause of the problem is confirmed to be of an invidual domain which causes an abnormal number of request preventing network connections to the server.

In the future, we will double-check the operation of our alert system, so that a similar situation cannot occure again. We apologize for the invonvenience caused to our customers.
